Armor Enters into Long-term Contract with Virginia DOC

Armor is pleased to announce that we have entered into a long-term contract to provide healthcare services to the Virginia DOC (VaDOC) effective November 1, 2015

VaDOC first awarded Armor three sites in 2006. In 2011, we were awarded an additional five sites and in 2012, Armor was awarded a ninth site. In 2012, the VaDOC issued a request for proposals to provide comprehensive healthcare services. When the proposals were scored, Armor’s program was very well received but a competitor submitted a price that was substantially less than our actual expenses. The VaDOC, understandably, chose to contract with the lower cost option and Armor’s contract expired on April 30, 2013.

On June 2, 2014, only 13 months after taking on the contract, the VaDOC received a notice of termination from the new healthcare vendor. The VaDOC executed an emergency contract for Armor to provide services effective on October 1, 2014 and, after issuing and evaluating another RFP, the VaDOC has again selected Armor as its healthcare provider, this time for 15 sites.

We are excited to reunite with the many excellent employees/caregivers at the correctional facilities, and look forward to our continued partnership with all of our Virginia DOC colleagues.
